Smart Search (Alpha): The intelligent AI Search in Visual Shop Floor

In Visual Shop Floor, important information is continuously collected and stored. Particularly, notes from Shop Floor Meetings, comments on actions, and event descriptions form a valuable knowledge base. This can provide crucial support when facing current challenges and problems.

With the new Smart Search in Visual Shop Floor, accessing important information is greatly simplified. A brief description of an issue is enough to receive tailored search results, allowing you to quickly access valuable information.

The search goes beyond a simple keyword search: In addition to traditional syntactic search, Smart Search intelligently interprets the inputs and understands their meaning (semantic search). Results are also sorted by relevance, so the most important information is displayed first. In short: With Smart Search, you can find exactly what you need faster.

Through the central search bar, you can specifically search for meetings, tasks, and events. Smart Search uses semantic analysis to recognize relationships between terms and topics. This not only finds exact matches but also suggests thematically relevant content. In the background, a powerful search model is continuously learning from each use and improving itself – for even more precise results over time.

What can Smart Search do?

Comprehensive search: Find information considering titles, descriptions, comments, and attributes of tasks, events, and meetings.

Search by meaning: Get relevant results even if the search query is not formulated exactly.
Language independent Search in your language and still find valuable information that may be formulated in other languages.

What are the benefits of Smart Search?

Time savings: Say goodbye to lengthy searches and complicated search forms. Find information in seconds.
More efficiency: Get precise answers to your questions – without detours or delays.
Optimized processes: Easily access existing knowledge and use it to optimize processes.

Where is the journey heading?

Smart Search is currently in the Alpha phase and is continuously being developed. Future versions will be gradually optimized to improve search results and enhance the user experience.

The user interface concept and the integration into Visual Shop Floor are also being continuously refined and adjusted as needed. Through targeted usage analysis, we ensure that optimizations are made exactly where they provide the greatest value.

Thanks to the powerful technical foundation that has been added for implementing Smart Search in Visual Shop Floor, the groundwork has been laid for numerous other possibilities to further optimize Shop Floor Management and, thus, production and logistics processes.

Currently, the Alpha version is being tested by selected companies. If you're interested in participating in the Alpha test, please let me know!

Further feature

Who created it? – Assign events more quickly

Thanks to the extension of the event widget, it is now clear at a glance how an event was created. Events can either be automatically generated by the system based on predefined conditions, imported from third-party systems, or captured via the user interface.

The clear display of the event source or the user who captured the event allows for quicker event assignment, clearer identification of responsibilities, and targeted improvement of team collaboration.

The new feature is very easy to use: Simply add the "Created by" column in the event widget settings – and the information will be immediately visible. This creates maximum transparency and boosts efficiency in event-driven work. It saves valuable time and enables well-grounded decisions.

Improvements and bug fixes

Verification of connection timeout for OPC-UA

In certain cases, the predefined timeout interval was not monitored correctly. This issue has been resolved, further improving system stability.

Consistent and unified user interface

In previous versions, links in Visual Shop Floor were not consistently displayed in terms of icons and colors. With the new version, the presentation has been standardized, enhancing the user experience (UX).

Strict matching for filter criteria in model export

Until now, the filter criteria in the model export were not checked for exact matches, but were interpreted as 'contains'. As a result, the filter criteria could not be precisely defined in certain cases. The filter mechanism has now been adjusted so that only exact matches are considered. This ensures that the results are clear and precise.
